الوصف Criticizes methodological shortcomings in antisemitism research, in particular in research on the connection between antisemitism and criticism of Israel. After having developed a range of scales for measuring manifest, secondary, and latent antisemitism, anti-Zionism, anti-Israeli and anti-Palestinian attitudes, as well as some other scales, Kempf and his co-workers conducted a study of two groups in Germany: a representative sample according to age, gender, and education, and an online sample of active critics of Israel. Concludes that the majority of Germans have attitudes critical of Israel, and that pacifism and human rights engagement play an essential role in their attitudes. However, amongst the active critics of Israel, blatant antisemites constitute a minority. Antisemitic criticism of Israel is typical of the neo-Nazis, but it is also firmly anchored in the center of society (e.g. voters of the centrist parties).
