The “Hasmonea” was a students’ Zionist organization established in Riga in 1922, with branches in the University of Tartu (Estonia) and in Kaunas (Lithuania). The “Hasmonea” in Tartu was founded in 1923 by former members of the Academic Society for Knowledge of Jewish History and Culture in Tartu. They were influenced by the visit to Riga of Vladimir Zeev Jabotinsky. The Hasmonea in Tartu cooperated actively with other Zionist organizations in Latvia and Lithuania, but had little contact with other Jewish student organizations in Tartu. In 1940, the “Hasmonea” was closed together with all other student organizations after the Soviet Occupation. The collection consists of copies of documents of the “Hasmonea” Fraternity of the University of Tartu. It contains: cash books; a “reskontro” book containing information on personal accounts; invitations send to “Hasmonea” from the Tartu municipality and the County Anti-tuberculosis Society to participate in charitable events; Hasomonea's charter and detailed comments to it including a detailed description of “Hasmonea’s” goals and rules of practical work --
