Le procès de Maurice Papon

Presents excerpts of the official transcript of the Papon trial (October 1997-April 1998), the longest in the history of the French Assizes Court. Traces the major events in the trial, from the opening statements by the prosecution and the defense, testimony by historians and the plaintiffs, the closing statement by the accused, and the final verdict. Despite attempts by the defense to annul the trial on the basis of Papon's advanced age and ill health, Papon was pronounced guilty of crimes against humanity for his involvement in the deportation of over 1,600 Jews.
