Text on the back -Postkarte:In der Landschaft Yemen in Südarabien lebten noch vor kurzem etwa 50.000 Juden. Fortwährende Verfolgungen seitens der fanatischen Einwohner, die sich zudem in stetem Aufruhr gegen die türkische Regierung befinden, und die elende wirtschafliche Lage, die sich oft bis zu Hungersnöten steigert, haben diese jüdische Bevölkerung dezimiert. Gegenwärtig versucht es der Rest, sich durch die Auswanderung nach Palästina zu retten, dem nächsten Gebiet, wo Juden unter günstigeren Verhältnissen leben. Diese Einwanderung anspruchsloser, arbeitwilliger und intelligenter Leute bringt dem allgemeinen jüdischen Kolonisationswerk in Palästina, das zurzeit mehr als 40 landwirtschaftliche Ansiedlungen mit ca. 12.000 Einwohnern umfasst, in den verschiedensten Hinsichten ganz außerordentlichen Nutzen, so daß die Rettung der yemenitischen Juden gleichzeitig auch dem grossen Felde der jüdischen Palästina-Bestrebun;Back Printed Text Translation - Postcard:(Approximate translation) In the region of Yemen, in South Arabia, lived still recently about 50,000 Jews. The continual pursuits from the fanatic inhabitants, in constant riots against the Turkish government, as well as the miserable economic situation which often increases up to starvation, have decimated this Jewish population. At the present time, the rest of the population tries to get saved by emigration to Palestine, the next area, where Jews live under more favorable conditions. The emigration of undemanding, work-willing and intelligent people activates the Jewish colony in Palestine, which covers now more than 40 agricultural settlements with approx. 12,999 inhabitants. Thus, the rescue of Yemenite Jews as well as the large field of the Jewish colony came out right. The Jewish quarter was erected out of the ramparts of Sana'a at the end of the 17th century after the Exile to Moza (1681). It was later affected by politic troubles occurring in the city: during the struggle between the Imam of Yemen and the Ottomans in 1905, a lot of houses of the Jewish quarter were destroyed. [S.H]
