N.Y.;Production period - ca. 1910;founders, architects, painters etc. - Jacob Keller;Front Period - ca. 1910;Category - Biblical scenes;Description - This vertical postcard depicts a drawing of Delilah cutting Samson's hair as depicted in Judges 16:19 - "And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him." Samson is seen sleeping in an elaborate baldachin bed with heavy red and green curtains. He is bearded and wears a blue shirt and is covered by a pink blanket. The long curls of his hair are spread on the two pillows on which he lyes. Delilah is sitting on the edge of the bed, wearing a yellow dress with an orange belt, earring, a bracelet and sandals. With one of her hands she picks up a lock of Samson's hair, while with the other she reaches behind to a servant woman who hides behind the bed and hands Delilah scissors. Only the hands and the head of the servant are visible, though it seems certain she is a woman. This is a departure from the text, that specifically mentions a ma
