The workshop was held under the auspices of the Centre of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies of Cambridge University ... Some of the participants decided not to contribute their papers to the publication ... and quite a number of new contributors came on board. In addition, permission was obtained to republish a valuable study of early Islamic exegesis, which added to the balance and scope of the volume."--Page xxi.
