An account of the situation of the Jews in Nazi-occupied Poland and during the Warsaw ghetto uprising, written between 1946-47 in Eretz-Israel. Lubetkin (1914-1978), who was a member of the Hehalutz-Dror Zionist youth movement, was active in the Warsaw ghetto in the fields of education, culture, social welfare, and especially in preparation for the uprising. Describes the activities of ŻOB. Relates the situation in the ghetto between January and April 1943, and the events of the uprising - the burning of the ghetto and hiding in the bunkers. Lubetkin was one of a small group of survivors who escaped through the sewage system to the "Aryan side" and survived in hiding. Describes their activities in the Warsaw uprising of August 1944 and their evacuation from the city afterwards.
