Ich, Oskar Schindler

A collection of letters (from the postwar period) by, to, and about Schindler, with connnective biographical material by the editor. Pp. 23-109 contain Schindler's descriptions of his wartime activities. They include letters written in an attempt to secure compensation for the fortune spent on maintaining his workers and bribing Nazi officials; details requested by writers and filmmakers who wanted to use his story, as well as tables of expenses, a plan of the factory complex, and lists of the workers. Other sections deal with attempts of Schindler and his supporters to gain him recognition and to solve his financial problems, his relationship with his wife, and the failed project (in his lifetime) to produce a film on his rescue of Jews.
