Tracing the evolution of the prewar generation of Jewish communists in Poland, discusses also the impact of antisemitism on the shape of their radical and utopian ideology; the opposition to antisemitism expressed in the 1930s by the Polish Communist Party; the popular antisemitism after World War II; and the influence of Stalinist anti-Jewish policy in the 1950s on the increasing antisemitism of many Polish communist leaders, which reached its peak in the events of 1968.
