Jews in the Underground in Belgium during World War II; The Rescue of Jewish Children in Belgium during World War II; The Rescue of Children from Germany, Czechoslovakia and Austria via Western Europe, 1933-1940

Analysis of the psychological and pedagogical problems entailed in the transfer of the children from Germany to the other countries and their absorption; the activities of the Zentral Wohlfahrstelle der Deutchen Juden in the rescue operations parallel to those of the Youth Aliyah; the problems involved in selecting the children; absorption centers; problems of Zionist and non-Zionist education. Manager of ZWST - non-Zionist rescue society - in 1934-1938. Society assisting the rescue of 2000 children by transporting them to western Europe (mainly England) and the USA. Children about age 14 sent to adoption in families who requested them. Journey's costs usually paid by real parents unless they could not afford it and then society was aided by funds like the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. Children absorbed in Jewish and non-Jewish families in England. Children who were absorbed in Christian families having difficulties when reunited with their real Jewish families. Absorption in the USA was in Jewish families only. Sometimes "adoption" not successful and children relocated to institutes.
