The main characteristic of this miscellany is its content of very heterogeneous music: Synagogue repertoire compositions of authors from Livorno (15 pieces by Michele Bolaffi, dating back to the Twenties of the XIXth century, 7 by David Garzia, active in the second half of the XIXth century). Synagogue songs and arrangements of the first half of the XXth century, especially by Ernesto Ventura, at the time cantor and choir master in Livorno Operatic choruses of Jewish/patriotic content (Rossini, Mosè in Egitto, " Dal tuo stellato soglio " Verdi, Nabucco, "Va 'pensiero sull'ali dorate" Verdi, I Lombardi alla prima crociata, "O Signore, dal tetto natìo" Songs from the First World War ("La Canzone del Grappa", "La Leggenda del Piave" Songs and hymns linked to the rise of Fascism, including: Inno di Roma by Giacomo Puccini (1919), Il canto del lavoro by Pietro Mascagni (1928), Inno dei Piccoli Italiani, Il bacio alla bandiera Italian prayers, school choirs and didactic sessions. |
