Richard Willstätter (1872-1942), German organic chemist whose study of the structure of plant pigments, chlorophyll included, won him the 1915 Nobel Prize for Chemistry, professor of chemistry at the University of Berlin and director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Chemistry, later in Munich. He emigrated to Switzerland in 1939.
