The file contains:;a) an autograph letter of two pages written in Yale on 26 July 1848 to E.M. Long in Mercersburg, PA, thanking for the election as an honorary member of the Diagnothean Literary Society of Marshall College in Mercersburg.;b) an autograph letter of one page written on 15 January [1852] to Eben. Meriam in Brooklyn concerning specimen of Virginia salt and a lecture. In addition, a clipping of a review on a biography of Silliman from 1947 has been attached to this letter later on.;c) an autograph letter of one page on letter paper of the "American Journal of Science and Arts", written in New Haven on 27 January 1873 to "My dear Sir" concerning different types of coal.
