Earl Spencer, 13.3.1800, on board the Tigre, off Alexandria, giving a full report as to the state of his squadron and details about the rioting of the Ships company men on the Theseus, following shortage of allowance of wine;;He reports on discontentment amongst French troups; on disagreements and enmity betwen Kleber and Bonaparte; Although acting in concert with the Vizier towards the evacuation of the French troups from Egypt, Smith gives details concerning the quid pro quo on the subject of allowing the French their arms and baggage while evacuating; moreover he gives an evaluation of what might occur in case of resumption of hostilities between the two armies.
