Israel Bruk (1904-1943) was a senior accountant at the “Krasnogvardeets” medical equipment plant in Leningrad. After the start of the war with Nazi Germany, he was drafted into the Soviet army. He was killed in action in 1943. The private collection of Israel Bruk contains his correspondence with family members and some of his photographs. The letters refer to the situation in besieged Leningrad and at the front. The collection also includes materials about Bruk's work at the “Krasnogvardeets” plant, correspondence of other family members during WWII, and their memories of the war --

Description
The most important part of the collection is Israel Bruk's correspondence during the “Great Patriotic War” from besieged Leningrad and from the front to his wife Bella and children Edik and Lera. The archive includes some photographs of Israel Bruk, letters from relatives to Bella Bruk during the war, and a letter to Bella from Israel Bruk's acquaintance in the military notifying her of her husband's death in 1943. The collection contains copies of documents from the Central State Archive of St. Petersburg concerning the work of Israel Bruk as a senior accountant at the “Krasnogvardeets” medical equipment plant in Leningrad (1942). The collection also contains an audio recording of the conversation between Lera (Valeria) Bruk and Clara Palman (cousins) in 2011 regarding their memories of the war, a book of memoirs by Lev Ganichev about the war in Leningrad and the situation at the “Krasnogvardeets” medical equipment plant.
