Gavish, Haya

Chaya Gavish was born in 1941. She lives in Jerusalem and is married to Dr. Dov Gavish, a geographer. Chaya is a historian, a folklorist and a researcher of popular Hebrew literature. The collection consists of materials including documents, photographs, correspondence, oral histories, transcripts and maps collected for the publication of her thesis submitted to Haifa University in 1999 and her book Unwitting Zionists : The Jewish Community of Zakho in Iraqi Kurdistan, 2010.

Description
The collection contains documents, photographs, correspondence, oral histories, transcripts and maps collected for the publication of her thesis and her book Unwitting Zionists : The Jewish Community of Zakho in Iraqi Kurdistan, 2010. The study is based on Interviews conducted by Gavish and by the Oral History Division of the Hebrew University's Institute of Contemporary Jewry, archival material and on secondary published works.
