Laserson, Maurice

Maurice Laserson (1880 Mitau, Latvia - 1961 Australia). He studied economics at the Polytechnical Institute in Riga graduating in 1900, and law at the University of Dorpat (Tartu), Estonia, graduating in 1908. From 1932 till 1939, he lived in Geneva, devoting himself to Jewish social work. In 1940 he settled in Melbourne, Australia, where he served until 1948 as the official representative of the World Jewish Congress (W.J.C.) in Australia. From 1944 he also served as the official representative in Australia of OSE, a world-wide Jewish relief organization, caring for children. This collection consists mostly of documents relating to Laserson's involvement in the W.J.C --
