About the Archive
The Archives of the Jewish People (formerly the Central Archives for the History of the Jewish People) was founded in 1939. Its holdings include the archives of thousands of Jewish communities and local, national, and international Jewish organizations; private collections of prominent Jewish individuals; and personal documentation reflecting everyday life. At the same time, the Archives works to expand the documentary basis for the history of the Jewish people, conducting survey and digitization projects in archives worldwide. The Archives currently holds one of the world's most comprehensive collections of documents, registers, and other sources for the history of the Jewish people from the late Middle Ages to the present day.
The archival collections are available for consultation in the Special Collections Reading Room (Floor -3), Sunday–Thursday, 9 am – 6 pm.
