Lev Ha'ir Community Center, Jerusalem The Ben Snior family originated in Spain. Moshe Ben Snior (1820-1910) and his family came to Israel after a long journey via Greece and Turkey. They settled in the Old City in Jerusalem and were one of the Sephardic families of the Old Yishuv. Daniel Ben Snior, the son of Moshe, was born in the Old City (1839-1933). He was a merchant. He married Esther, who also was born in the Old City (1878-1940). The couple had three children: The eldest, Avraham was born in the Old City (1896) and the two daughters, Sarah (Sarina) and Rachel (Rashel) were born in Ohel Moshe. Daniel Ben Snior and his wife were one of the original settlers of the Ohel Moshe neighborhood. Daniel served as the first Mukhtar (Head of the Community) of the neighborhood. He built his house in the neighborhood with the assistance of a loan he received from the Ohel Moshe Company, which was founded in 1882, with the help of the well known philanthropist, Moshe Montefiore. In 1925, their eldest son Avraham married Zehava (Oro), daughter of Yehuda and Sarah Levy from Neve Tzedek in Tel Aviv (1900). They had five children: Matilda (1927); Esther (1929); Daniel (1931 Named after his grandfather); Levana (1935) and Moshe (1938). Avraham was a tailor. He lived in Ohel Moshe until his death in 1984. Zehava, the daughter of Yehuda and Sarah Levy, his wife, passed away in Jerusalem in 1989. The photographs were given to the Photographic Archives of Yad Ben-Zvi by the Lev Ha'ir Community Center. They were provided by Levana Testa nee Ben Snior, the daughter of Avraham and Zehava.
