A brief account of the tragedy which took place on June 5, 1835 in the house of Nicolao Albino in Alessandria at the wedding of Isachia and Emilia Vitale, where over one hundred people were assembled on the third floor of the house observing the ceremony. When, according to the document, all the spectators “jumped in accordance with the custom of the Jews,” the floor collapsed, resulting in the deaths of forty-seven people (thirty Jews, seventeen Christians) and injuries to forty-three more (thirty-four Jews, nine Christians). The document lists all of the casualties. Among the dead were the groom, the rabbi, and the latter's assistant, while the bride was described as moribonda (critically wounded, dying). The document is of particular interest in its recounting of an otherwise-unknown custom and for the presence of large numbers of Jews and Christians, including military personnel, Christian clergy, and musicians. With decorative elements. See Foa, “Gli Ebrei in Alessandria,” 227 - 231
