שלמה שמחה זילבר נולד בשנת 1926 בחבל גליציה שבפולין, בן למשפחה מחסידות רופשיץ. לאחר שניצל מהשואה, עלה לישראל בשנת 1949 עם רעייתו. שימש במשך שנים רבות כחזן וכבעל תוקע בבתי כנסת שונים בישראל. נפטר בפתח תקווה בשנת 2017.
