השיר "פלסטלינה" נכתב על ידי שלום חנוך בשנת 1970 במקור כשיר אינסטרומנטלי (ללא מילים) ויצא כחלק מאלבום שהוציא חנוך יחד עם אריק איינשטיין נושא שם זה. שנה מאוחר יותר, החתימה חברת הפקות אנגלית בניהולו של המוסיקאי אלטון ג'ון את שלום חנוך על חוזה להקלטת אלבום משיריו באנגלית. באלבום זה נכללו שירים מקוריים של חנוך שנכתבו באנגלית, כגון “Under Tropical Moonlight” (תחת אור-ירח טרופי) לצד שירים קיימים של חנוך, כגון "מאיה". השיר "פלסטלינה" היה יוצא דופן מכיוון שנכתבו עבורו מילים רק לגרסה האנגלית שלו, ובגרסה זו נקרא השיר “End of the Road”. האוסף נכשל במכירות וסתם את הגולל על הנסיון להזניק את הקריירה של חנוך למימדים בינלאומיים. עם זאת, שירים מסויימים מתוך האלבום הופיעו מאוחר יותר באוספים שלו בעברית. באשר ל-"פלסטלינה", השיר מוכר יותר בגרסה האינסטרומנטלית שלו עד היום. |
