| השיר נכתב בשנת תרצ"ה (1934-1935); מילות השיר התפרסמו לראשונה בגליונות, ספר רביעי, הוצאת מרכז התאחדות הגננות בארץ ישראל, תל אביב. השיר הולחן לראשונה על ידי יצחק אדל אולם לחן זה לא התקבל. לפי דניאל סמבורסקי, קיפניס טען שהלחן של אדל "מזרח-אירופית" מדי - ובסופו של דבר הלחן המוכר היום הוא של דניאל סמבורסקי. |
