	השיר נכתב ב-1945 בהשפעת אימי המלחמה וזוועות השואה. בשנת 1948 שרה שושנה דמארי את השיר באוזני אלפי יהודים במחנות העקורים בקפריסין, בימי העליה הבלתי-לגלית. (מתוך החוברת המצורפת לאוסף משירי שושנה דמארי "מכלניות עד אור").
