שאול נגר התעוור בגיל 13. הוריו שלחו אותו לתלמוד תורה בבית המדרש ״אהבה ואחווה״ בקהיר. נגר למד את התורה והגמרא בעל פה כולל פירושים של רש"י ואחרים. הוא היה חזן בבית הכנסת בשכונת המעדי (פרבר של קהיר). נגר עלה עם משפחתו לישראל בשנת 1957. בארץ לימד תלמידים לקרוא, דרש בפני מתפללים, והיה מוזמן לאירועים לפייט בפני המוזמנים. לנגר ארבעה ילדים: שושנה, רחל והתאומים עזי-עזרא ורג'ינה. |
