Front Text - פרץ סמולנסקין חי משנת תר'ב תרמ'ה. נולד בעיר אחת קטנה אשר ברוסיה הלבנה. סופר קלססי בשפה העברית. בילדותו היה נודד מעיר לעיר וסובל בגלל 'אפיקורסותו'. התחלת כתיבתו היתה בקרת, אחרי כן התחיל עורך את הירחון המפורסם 'השחר', שבו הדפיס את ספוריו הגדולים, המצטיינים בבהירות התאור של מחוזות החיים. ככל המשכילים נלחם בעד תקון מנהגי הדת ולבסוף התחיל מטיף ללאומיות וחבת ציון. ספוריו הכי חשובים הם: 'התועה בדרכי החיים', 'קבורת חמור' ועוד. וממאמריו הרבים שהדפיס מצטיין ביחוד מאמרו 'עם עולם'.
