Indeed, we can guess the erased title of the postcard written in French: 'Danse des Almés au Caire'; the word 'Almés' refers to Indian women who sang and danced in parties with the accompaniment of flute, castanets and cymbals. They were chosen among the most beautiful women and were often called to amuse great feasts. This theme was often depicted by Oriental artists who wanted to exalt a certain eroticism in the Oriental dance. A Jewish (?) woman stands in the center of the photograph and she is dancing.
