Brunaud 157 Montplaisir Street, Lyon;Production period - middle of the 20th century;founders, architects, painters etc. - Lina;Front Period - middle of the 20th century;Category - Synagogues;Description - This horizontal postcard depicts a photograph of the Great Synagogue of Tunis. This synagogue was erected around 1930, by the architect Victor Valensi. It is situated in the center of the city, in Paris Avenue, and is one of the main Synagogues in Tunisia. It has a monumental character and remains the oriental construction with its magnificent dome. We can see the Hebrew name of god in the upper facade of the synagogue, written in a Magen David (The Star of David). The Tablets of Law are above it, and the names of the twelve tribes appear around the Dome. [S.H]
