We can see a Jewish farming family in front of their cabin, with their donkeys. The city of Settat prospered especially due to the wealth of the soil, and it constituted during the 18th and the 19th centuries an important trade center of agricultural products. Settat therefore attracted populations, such as Jewish Moroccans who came in masses in the 19th century. They built their own quarter, the Mellah, next to the Kasbah (old city).
