  • Caesarius of Terracina, 2021 (ebook):t.p. (Caesarius of Terracina) p. 7, etc. (Cesario was born in Carthage ca. 85 A.D. to a family of Christian converts. According to legend, he was a young deacon, dedicated to helping the poor and evangelizing, who left Carthage to preach in Rome but was shipwrecked off the coast of Terracina where he was imprisoned for protesting a human sacrifice at the Temple of Apollo. Refusing to recant, he offered Christian prayers instead, which effected miracles, including the collapse of the temple and two years later, the sudden conversion and death of his chief judge. His martyrdom occured within days, most likely during Trajan's rule [98-117 A.D.])
