From 1970 control was transferred to the Greater London Council, which appointed members of the (second) London Transport Executive; the title of London Transport was adopted by the London Passenger Transport Board, soon after its establishment in 1933, as the working name for its road and rail operations, and this has continued to be used under successive changes in higher organization)
