Wikipedia description:
Uwe Boll (German: [ˈuːvə ˈbɔl]; born 22 June 1965) is a German filmmaker. He has directed more than 30 films during a four-decade career, coming to prominence for his adaptations of video games. Beginning his career in Germany in 1991, Boll moved to Canada and transitioned to English-language films during the 2000s. His first major release was the 2003 adaptation of House of the Dead, which was followed by film versions of Alone in the Dark, Bloodrayne, In the Name of the King, and Postal between 2005 and 2007. The adaptations were critical and commercial failures, with Alone in the Dark considered one of the worst films ever made. Boll's later films were released direct-to-video to mostly negative reviews, although some such as 2009's Rampage and Darfur were better received. Boll retired from filmmaking in 2016 to become a restaurateur, but ended his retirement in 2020. He gained renewed attention in 2026 for the action thriller Citizen Vigilante, which was promoted by Elon Musk after being refused an age certification in Germany for "inciting violence against migrants".
