Malvolio is a fictional character in William Shakespeare's comedy Twelfth Night, or What You Will. The vain, pompous, authoritarian steward of Olivia's household, his name comes from Italian for 'ill will', referencing his disagreeable nature (cf. Benvolio from Romeo and Juliet).
