He is currently Professor of Philosophy at Memorial University. He has published and lectured on German idealism, phenomenology, ecology, among others. His publications focus on the area known as continental philosophy. He was inducted into the Royal Society of Canada as a Fellow of the College of New Scholars in 2014. After many years of teaching and studying at the University of Freiburg, first as a Humboldt scholar and then as a doctoral candidate, McGrath received his PhD in Theology from the Christian Theological Academy in Warsaw in 2017. His areas of expertise are: philosophy of religion and Christian theology, philosophy of nature, philosophy of psychology, metaphysics, history of philosophy and psychoanalysis)
