Graduated from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga. in 1969 with a BA in philosophy. Received a MA in theater at the University of Louisville in 1971. Taught in the Jefferson County (Ky.) public schools and at the Brown School for gifted children. She was the project director for the Kentucky Arts Commission. By 1976, Norman had turned to full-time playwriting and was associated with Actors Theatre of Louisville. She won the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for drama.)
