- GNIS, Mar. 23, 2010(Middletown--PPL, 41°26ʹ45ʺN 74°25ʹ23ʺW; Orange County; another PPL listed in Bronx County)
- Wikipedia, Mar. 23, 2010(Middletown, Orange County, New York; lies in New York's Hudson Valley region; lies along the northern boundary of the New York metropolitan area; John Green purchased land from the DeLancey patent and probably settled the area around 1744; due to its location between other pre-existing locations, the name of Middletown was adopted, but later changed to South Middletown [no publs in LC database] to avoid confusion with another nearby location. Eventually the word "south" was dropped, giving the current name when the community became a village in 1848; the village was incorporated as a city in 1888)
- Rand McNally comm. atlas, 1988(Middletown, inc., in Orange Co.; also twp. of same name in Del. Co.)
