Agronomy is the sub-discipline of plant agriculture focused on the science and technology of crop production and soil management as it pertains to field crops in the context of industrial agriculture and cultivation with Intensive farming methods. Agronomy has come to include the research of plant genetics, plant physiology, meteorology, and soil science. It is the application of a combination of sciences such as biology, chemistry, economics, ecology, earth science, and genetics. Professionals in the field are known as agriculturists or better known as agronomists, as well as certified crop advisors (CCA) in the US.
