Rychnov nad Kněžnou (Czech pronunciation: [ˈrɪxnof ˈnat kɲɛʒnou]; German: Reichenau an der Knieschna) is a town in the Hradec Králové Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 12,000 inhabitants. The town is located on the Kněžna River. The history of Rychnov nad Kněžnou is primarily connected with the noble Kolowrat family, who owned the town since 1640 and had a castle built here. The historic town centre is well preserved and is protected as an urban monument zone.
