O'Brien Papers (also called Father O'Brien; born January 28, 1893, in Peoria, Illinois; died April 18, 1980, in South Bend, Indiana; he attended St. Patrick School, the Spalding Institute, Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts, and St. Viator's College in Bourbonnais, Illinois; he was ordained as a priest of the Diocese of Peoria; earned a Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Illinois, where he as a chaplain for the Catholic students and also started the Newman Foundation; after leaving the University of Illinois, he spent a year at Oxford University, then spent the remainder of his life teaching and writing at the University of Notre Dame ( (University of Notre Dame, viewed April 29, 2019:) )
