- New York times, 11 Dec. 2023:in an obituary in the Overlooked series on page B6 (Ada Blackjack; born Ada Delutuk on May 10, 1898 on an Iñupiat settlement in Spruce Creek, Alaska, died May 29, 1983 in Palmer, Alaska, aged 85; sole survivor of a 1920s Arctic expedition that she joined to pay for her son's tuberculosis treatment; hired as a seamstress to accompany a crew organized by the Arctic explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson, who sought to claim the desolate Wrangel Island between Alaska and Russia for the British Empire. More than two years after the party was marooned on that barren speck of land, a rescue operation found Blackjack to be the sole survivor of the Wrangel Island expedition)
