- Johannes von Hildesheim (born between 1310 and 1320 in Hildesheim; died May 5, 1375 in Marienau near Hameln) was a Carmelite and prior of the Marienau monastery near Hameln. ; After studying in Avignon, [...] Johannes von Hildesheim worked in Strasbourg, from 1358 he was prior of the Carmelite monastery in Kassel, then prior at the Marienau monastery near Hameln until his death. He wrote philosophical, theological and poetic works, including the “Historia trium regum”, the history of the three (holy) kings, in 1364.
