- Carl Simon Fried (Carl Fried was a medical doctor. He was born in Bamberg amidst a Jewish family on July 22, 1889. He died in São Paulo on June 2, 1958. Fried was imprisoned in the Buchenwald concentration camp from November to December 1938. He was freed after an anxious period of waiting and the Fried family went to Brazil.
