- Gordon Sanderson, 1886-1915 : architect, archaeologist, soldier, 2016:introduction (Gordon Sanderson was killed during the First World War at the age of 28; born in Scarborough in Yorkshire on 6 November 1886; from 1906 to 1909 was employed as a temporary architect in the Ministry of Public Works of the Egyptian Government; started drawing the historic buildings of Cairo; in 1910 was appointed as assistanr superintendent in the Indian Archaeology Department; was commissioned to carry out a photographic survey and report on the state of modern Indian buildings; also appointed Curator of the Delhi Museum; in 1914 published "Delhi Fort - a guide"; in 1911 commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Volunteer Forces of India - the Agra Volunteer Rifles; at some point in 1915, returned to Europe to fight on the Western Front, initially appointed to the Gurkhas; died 13 October 1915 at the Battle of Loos)
