- Dr. Paul D. Miller is an Assistant Professor of International Security Studies at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. He previously served as Director for Afghanistan on the National Security Council staff from September 2007 to September 2009. He supported the 2008 and 2009 Afghanistan-Pakistan strategy reviews for the Bush and Obama Administrations. He served as a political analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency specializing in South Asia prior to his work in the White House. He also serves as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2002. Dr. Miller holds a PhD from Georgetown University in International Relations and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University. Dr. Miller lives in Cheverly, MD.
