González; in 2001 became chair of the Department of Chicana/o Studies at LMU. In her first years in the professoriate, she helped establish a national Chicana academic organization, MALCS, and she served on the American Historical Association's Committee on Minority Historians. In the summer, 2012, named Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs. She was recently appointed to the founding board of a new journal, The Journal of Women, Gender, and Families of Color)
