- Stéphen Rostain; born January 5th, 1962 in Brest, France; studied archaeology at the Panthéon-Sorbonne University in Paris; after first contacts with New World archaeology in Teotihuacan, Mexico, and on the Maya site of Chaguite, Guatemala, he focused his research on Amazonian and Caribbean Lowlands; worked as an archaeologist in French Guiana from 1985 until he received his Ph.D. in 1994 (thesis: L'occupation amérindienne ancienne du littoral de Guyane); co-director of the archaeological project Tanki Flip in Aruba, which led to the publication of a large monograph (1994-1996); co-director of the archaeological project Sangay-Upano and director of the Rio Blanco project in Ecuador (1996-2001); currently the director of research at the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research), and over the last ten years, he has been in charge of interdisciplinaryproject on the Guianas coast; director of anthropological projects at the Centre ORSTOM de Cayenne in French Guiana (1988-1991); [email protected] ( (Author's Academia page, January 27, 2021:) )
