- Margaret Baker-Genovesi began her career in her native Australia, making her operatic debut at the age of 20 as Violetta in La traviata for the Queensland Opera Company. After winning scholarships in Italy to the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, Rome, and the Chigi Academy in Siena, she continued her studies in Germany, eventually settling in Rome, where she made her European debut as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro. Her subsequent engagements in opera, oratario, and recital have taken her to the major theatres of Europe, Asia, and Australia and include guest performances for some of Europe's most important festivals ( (Sydney Eisteddfod WWW site, May 5, 2015) )
