Evans; born Audrey Elizabeth Evans on March 6, 1925 in York, England, died Thursday [29 Sept. 2022] in Philadelphia, aged 97; a pediatric oncologist in Philadelphia who, seeing that her out-of-town patients' families sometimes struggled to find affordable accommodations when their children needed extended care, helped create the first Ronald McDonald House, a concept that has blossomed into a worldwide network; chief of pediatric oncology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for 20 years; in 1971 Dr. Evans developed what has become known as the Evans Staging System -- a protocol for assessing patients with neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer that involves nerve cells)
