- Wikipedia, February 26, 2014(James Bryce, 1st Viscount Bryce OM GCVO PC FRS FBA (10 May 1838 - 22 January 1922) was a British academic, jurist, historian and Liberal politician ; educated at the University of Glasgow, the University of Heidelberg and Trinity College, Oxford ; elected a fellow of Oriel College, Oxford, in 1862, and called to the Bar, Lincoln's Inn, in 1867 ; was appointed Regius Professor of Civil Law at Oxford, a position he held between 1870 and 1893 ; between 1885 and 1907 was a Liberal Member of Parliament ; from 1907 until 1913 was British Ambassador to the United States of America)
