Historian (born in Naples, Italy, ca. 1526-1527; died in 1580), son of Simone Porta; graduated in Pisa; became a respected lawyer in his homeland, and in 1561 an advisor to the viceroy. He wrote "Congiura de' baroni del regno di Napoli contra il re Ferdinando I", in English, "The Conspiracy of the Barons of the Kingdom of Naples against King Ferdinand I" (1565), and also an incomplete "Storia d'Italia" ("History of Italy") in the year 1547, and a "Relazione del regno di Napoli", in English "Relation of the Kingdom of Naples" (both published only in 1839). His Eulogy of Pius V is lost)
